I haven't been using Blogger in a long time. I've been working and paying bills like crazy. I graduated in May and spent the month of July in Africa with my cousins.
I plan to post pics and do more blogging.
Since Graduating and Africa, I moved to a studio condo in Alexandria , Virginia. I also work now as a receptionist at Family Chiropractic & Physiotherapy Clinic.

I'm living alone and taking care of myself.(WELCOME TO ADULTHOOD...)

I'm now attending Trinity Washington University and working on my B.A. in Women's Studies and History. It's not that far away from my old college in Virginia so I get to keep my old friends. We can still see each other on weekends.
It's so crazy because I haven't posted anything in 8 months. I've been busy. My dad divorced my step-mom and is fighting for custody of my brother Adam. My sister Kizzy now lives in Bisbee, Arizona and my mother now lives in St. Louis because of her job. I had a crazy ass summer. I felt like a damn Yo-Yo ball. But I got to travel, which was good.

I got this really cool email the other day from this girl named Keisha. She's a senior at VCU. She's working on the film Lake City in Richmond. Keisha said that Troy was quirky and also extremely nice and introduced himself to her. She found my blog while trying to find more info on him. Because she had no ideal who he was. Only that he looked like the guy from the Barbershop movies.

I got lots of cards and very halloween related presents. Lots of skulls, witch crap and other junk. But, it was the thought that counted.

Amy Winehouse is back and I'm trully happy about that. I love her voice. I'm really feeling the new song Rehab.

I also discovered singer Paolo Nutini from Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Paolo sung the Last Requst song and I instantly fell in love with his voice. Paolo is 19 and scottish and I'm his new fan.

I'm bored to tears as always and working my ass off as always. I'm gonna be 19 in about a month and home for Thanksgiving so at least I have that to look forward to.

I've moved back into Hollins. I have a single in Sandusky, first floor, corner, two windows. I like it. My room's smaller than last year's, but I suppose I'll get used to it. Met a really nice girl named Shane across from my room. Shane's kinda cool. Shes a junior.
I finally saw Little Miss Sunshine over the weekend as well as Snakes On A Plane (S.O.A.P.) Little Miss Sunshine was funny as hell and S.O.A.P. was not as bad as I thought it would be.
I was the only girl who came to Hollins with no family, just alone with five bags and a taxi driver helping me to my room. My mother has finally shipped my books and other stuff throught the mail. My mom also got me the DVR/Cable/phone/DSL internet hookup as well. I had to come along because my mother and father had to be at their jobs and my sister is in California and couldn't leave her job either.
On the plane form Shreveport to Roanoke I read Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein. I bought it at the airport while I stocked up on M&M's and Skittles. Stranger in a Strange Land was a really good book.

In other unrelated college news. Irina my new best friend from San Fransicso emailed me this Troy link this morning(I'm a fan of this man, but I would never do this to him EVER). It has got to be the most scary, weird and disturbing paparazzitv footage I've seen. It features Troy, his mother and his girlfriend and alot of photographs, fans and autographs hounds. The whole ordeal just looks painfully annoying and aggresive. When the link was emailed to me I was freaked out at first but couldn't look away.

I'm very very very popular this week. I got another photo warning thing from another website. So I had to take those photos off as well. I also had to promise never to post the pictures again or in the future. Which I got, believe me. "I GOT IT". It is creppy that the only way I could get someone to read this blog(or comment on it) is by having lawyer and other people check for photos of Troy Garity. I'm not suppose to be posting. It's sorta sad and good at the same time. I honestly in all truthfulness thought no one came here and that I was wasting my time posting stuff. That's why my post were so short. It's also gonna be intersting in the future because I was warned not to post anyomre photos of him. So that means they will be checking my blog for photos in the future. I LEARNED MY LESSON..

Just when I felt like nobody and I really mean nobody was watching my blog or even paying attention to it. I receive in my mailbox a letter from a site. Where I get my tiny Troy picture from to bascially stop posting them or they will take legal action. Which really scared me. Just the words WE WILL ENFORCE LEGAL ACTION scares the hell out of me. I mean the thought that I could possibly go to jail or get in trouble for posting tiny pictures of a person. Is just crazy to me. So I had to go through my blog and delete all of their pictures. Which sucks a whole lot of ass.
I leave for Virginia Friday night and began classes on the 30th.

Well I'm at my dad's place in Shreveport. I'm basically see-sawing in between Natchez and Shreveport until I leave for Roanoke in a couple of weeks. It was so much better when my parents lived like 30 minutes apart from each other. Now on top of everything my mother is moving to Monroe. She was not feeling Natchez all that. I have to be in Roanoke by the 20th of August.

Troy is going to be apart of a benefit screening on August 1st. It's for a film called Innocent voices. Next to the auction things that already happened. I wish I could go to this as well.

Wednesday night was crazy as helll. I DVR Lost and watched American Idol 2 hour finale. It was a huge ass ridiclious show. It had everything Al Jarreau and Paris out scatting each other. Meatloaf scarring the shit out of Kat. Toni feeling up Taylor during In Of Ghetto. Toni Braxton needs to just give it up. I mean she is just to sad for words now. The highlights for me was. I was introduced to Adam Scarimbolo from sunday's Law and Order. He sorta reminded me of Troy by the way he talks and looks a little. Adam's going to be in the upcoming film A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints. I really loved that bok a lot. He will play Giuseppe one of the brothers. Last Night, I didn't watch American Idol at all. Because I was switichin in between Lost and Deadline Child Predators. So I missed all of the Taylor, Kat , Elliot stuff.
It wasn't untill Sayyid was telling Jack about what he thought Michael was up to. When I got a call from my friend Lakeisha telling me Elliot was going home. I was sad and wanted him to make it to the final two. I was with Elliot from the first time I heard him sing Song For You at the audition. I loved how week after week Elloitt was in the bottom two and still survived. I just don't get the Kat appeal at all. Her voice Tuesday night sounded like shit. The whole I Believe I Can Fly thing really was horrible. But, she'll roll around the floor and flash her panties so I guess all in life is fair somehow. Everybody in Natchez love the hell out of Taylor Hicks. So Taylor will and desserves to be the American Idol. My mother listen to his song all the time on her Ipod. You can't escape Taylor down here in Mississippi.

I won't be going to California until friday June 9th which sucks. Elliot Yamin came to Virgina the day after I left which also sucks. Elliot was in the bottom two. Paris is going home tonight(really sad news). Elliott is around for another week. I'm happy happy happy.

The ending of Lost was crazy as hell tonight. Ana Lucia is dead and Libby was shot through a pillow and Michael Dawson is an asshole. Who the hell is the real Henry Gale??? Ana Lucia worked for Jacks's dad and met Sawyer once before the Island in Sydney. I was the only person I know who actually liked Ana Lucia's character and now she gone. Here is a short but sweet re-cap of the last scene.

Ana-Lucia can't kill Henry Gale after he tried to kill her. So Michael tell Ana he'll shoot Henry instead. Ana gives Michael the combo to the safe and then all hell breaks loose.

Ana-Lucia's mother was played by wonderfully talented Rachel Ticotin. Ana also got it on with Sawyer (Angry sex style kinda action)

So I just got out of my advising meeting w/ my advisor about classes. It started out kinda rocky because she confused he with another black girl in my class. She was pleased with my G.P.A. and recommended I return for fall classes. She said I needed to join in more social activities. Which is truthful, I was a real loner this semester, but i honestly really dont care. I really don't like Virginia or the people here. But, Hollins has given me a good scholarship. After we talked we figured out my schedule for next fall. im taking another math class....only cuz i actually like math. I'm getting my science out of the way w/ astrology! I'm taking a cool history class that also gives me my first year writing. my fourth and final class is a class for my comm major. heres my schedule....i think i might actually like it.

There is only 15 days of classes left, not counting the weekends. This is wonderful and sad and very very stressful. Wonderful cause, hey, then it'll be summer and time for family, friends and finally California with Kizzy, yay! Sad mostly cause then one year of college would be over and only three more to go. Stressful cause there's SOOOO much work left to do and now that I realize exactly how little time there is to do it. And also stressful cause after three more years, I'll have to move out on my own somewhere and get a real job. I shall now tackle the gigantic pile of work that is due within the next 24 hours and shall attempt to do it all before 4am. Let's see how that goes.

Sir! No Sir! the film Troy narrates is finally coming to a picture show.
Sir! No Sir! was reviewed on Ebert & Roeper last weekend. They gave the Documentary two thumbs up and I can't wait to see this film. It's not playing any where near Virginia. If I can't see it at the movie theatre. I plan to rent the dvd.

Girl600/Elliot Yamin/Sims 2

I was doing an Elliot Yamin mp3 search and came across a podcast called Girl600. Well yesterday after class I subscribed to it and put it on my Ipod. I was on the bus listening when she said my name and mentioned my blog. It truly made my whole night. Let me tell you. I'm mentioned in the current episode called AM/FM Stereotype about 22 minutes into the show. Girl600 Show is an extremely entertaining experience and I strongly suggest that you listen to it and check it out for yourself. This reminds me of Valentines's day when Gia who runs the Sunshine blog. Posted a picture of Troy and gave me a shot out.

My favorite american Idol hopeful is Mr. Elliot Yamin. I'm obsessed with this man right now. I listen to his songs on the old Ipod constantly. Elliott's been in the bottom three two times already. He has a great soulful voice and he's becoming more comfortable with himself as the weeks go by. I really love his voice. I'm a huge fan of his. I would love to hear him sing more Donny Hathaway and some Sam Cooke. Elliot is 27, 90% deaf in one ear and wears a insuln pump due to diabetes and had bad teeth. I can sorta relate to him a bit. I'm 18, Epileptic and I also have not so good teeth.

I also spend alot of time playuing the Sims2 for the PC and PSP. The PC version gives you more to do. Like get married, have children and other good things. When I started playing I was really horrible at it. I forgot to pay bills, clean, take baths and feed myself before the meter thang ran out. So I basically was in the red alot and got roaches, urinated on myself and started fires whenever I cooked something. Then later on when I got better at the game and got kids. I still managed to screw up. My children were taken away from me because they didn't do their homework and I didn't feed them or bathe them before the meter ran out. Plus the bunny kept coming down to talk to me.

That is just some really scary shit. I promise to evertyhing that is holy. That my real life will not turn out like that ever....

Now I'm a whole lot better at the game. My daughters are doing really good in school. Althought I'm having a rough time impressing the school head master and getting them in private school(I have to work on that). My sim husband and I are getting along really well. Were busy loving all the time and making babies. My friendships are going good too and I just have to give a great party and accomplish more goals.

I'm spending Spring Break here in Roanoke by myself but I have my job to keep me busy. People got to buy shoes. So I guess I 'll sell them.

I wish I was in New York on March 20th, so I could see this concert. It has all of my favorite musicians and Maragret Cho.

Nathalie Press is an actress from one of the favorite films of last year(My Summer Of Love). Nathalie was in this really amazing short film on IFC over the weekend called WASP. It's about one day in the life of a single mother of four children. It was nominated for an Oscar and won , which it deserved. I really hope I see more of Nathalie Press acting cause I really love the two films I've seen her in so far.

It still bogs my mind why Nathalie Press or Emily Blunt weren't nominated for an Oscar. Or the film Summer Of Love for that matter. Or even Viggo for The History Of Violence. But, the Oscars have never been given a award to Martin Scorsese or Charlie Chaplin(except so lifetime thing when he was really old) so I guess it doesn't matter.

I am currently writing a paper on the Brontë sisters. I showed my professor my rough draft and I was critized because it was mostly Charlotte heavy. I really love all of the sisters books and I'm fascinated with them all. I guess I focused more on Charlotte because she out lived her 5 siblings, got married and pregnant. Now I have to included the other two Anne and Emily more.

My weekend was quite entertaining with the return of the Sopranos(Tony Got Shot, by uncle Junior, Big Love(I enjoyed the pilot episode) and Flavour Of Love (I was so happy that he picked Hoopz over New York). I'm so looking forward to the reunion show and see what happens between Pumpkin and New York.

Today was my presentation in Women's Studies class. Some of the questions we had to answer were: (What are your religious beliefs?)(How do you feel about the abortion controversy in the US and what is it really about?) and What are your political beliefs? Yeah, I pretty much got slammed. I'm an Roman-Catholic, pro-choice, liberal. That's not what people want to hear! I hate that, what is supposed to be a Women's Studies class, is turning into an abortion-debate class. The majority of the class seems to be pretty anti-choice (I refuse to use the term "pro-life" here, because I am not seeing individuals against the taking of human lives, but instead against reproductive choice) but there a few other pro-choicers in the room. I expected the kind of response I got. After the first two days in class, and hearing so many students strongly agree with the statement â€œAbortion is murderâ€?, I didnâ€™t have much hope for my own speech! It was very tense. I hate tension. I really do. But Iâ€™m not backing down from my beliefs just to keep the peace. I think that we, as adults, should be able to calmly and rationally discuss our own views and hopefully grow and learn from one another. Unfortunately, it seems that everyone is just getting angry and leaving the room with all these negative feelings towards one another, the instructor, and the class itself. I hope to see an improvement in this by the end of the year. Debate is good. Resentment and anger are not!

My Valentine's day is going to be without a fella. Which is okay by me SORTA!! I got alot of teddy bear and choclate crap to smooth me over for the day. So I guess it now all bad...

I had a really cool weekend. It sorta kinda involved Troy(I know enough with him already). My Political Science teacher invited the whole class to a Outland event this saturday. Outland is this group on campus that deals with Lesbian issues. The event was about Transgender issues and alot of transgengerd and other people talked about their experiences and stuff. It was very quite informative and long as hell. Anyway we all watched Beautiful Daughter and near the end of it they showed Troy sitting in the audience next to Paz de la Huerta. I was so happy to see his face. I was sitting through this film thinking alright already I get it they want to be woman and loved and treated equal, who cares(of course I cared but the night was very long people). Then Troy's face appeared on screen and it was all worth it. The event in the film was from January 2004 Vday show. I actually have a picture of Troy and Paz with Calpernia from the event.

My favorite person in the film was Valerie Spencer. Valerie was so self-assured and had a wonderful loving family and friends.

I spent the whole weekend in Washington D.C. with Kara from my Creative Writing class. Kara had her 21 birthday at her parents house saturday. I didn't drink anything I swear. I also went to a superbowl party the next day. Which was boring as hell. The first picture is of me and Kara and the other is me and her brother Gerald. Alot of the people at the party went to Howard. I had to go back to braids, because of my laziness and the fact that it's easier to manage that way.

I bought the new Jenny Lewis and Wastson Twins CD and the new Catpower CD. I am really addicted to the both of them.

I spent the holidays with my entire crazy ass family in Louisiana and Mississippi. My mother's new house is in Natchez and my dad's place is in Shreveport. Kizzy finally made up her mind and decided to live in California. She moved to San Mateo with her roommate from Atlanta.

I mostly spent all my time with my cousins and friends. Everybody pretty much lost all of their stuff and homes. Starting over seemed really simple for alot of people. When you think of the alternative it's not so bad. About three girls I graduated with are pregnant now. Which is trully scary, I want kids someday but not at 18.
I got back yesterday morning and I hope and pray that things only get better for me here.

For X-Mas I got a PSP and some money. I am very addicted to the PSP. I have like every picture of Troy on the thing. Christmas was spent at my mom's place in Natchez. My dad bought my brother and his wife along. Christmas was really good.
I spent New Years with my cousin and we went all over Mississippi.

Terrence Dashon Howard was nominated for a Golden Globe today. He has stiff competiton between Philip Seymour Hoffman(Still need to see Capote),Heath Ledger, Russell Crowe and David Strathairn. I am so happy he was not ignored for his wonderful performance. I was really shocked that Viggo didn't get a nod. Viggo should get noticed for the Oscars along with Philip and Terrence.

Last night after work I rented My Summer Of Love and Dark Waters (Japanese Version). I actually watch them both back to back last night. I was up until 4am. I can't wait until Christmas break the mix of unhappiness and boredom is killing me. To make matters worse I had a seizure in my calculus class yesterday. Now not only am I the New Orleans refuggee loner girl but I'm also the epiletpic girl. I don't think I will be going here for my sophmore year.

I thought Dark Water was very slow, long and boring. With very little scary moments in between. Not slow like M Night films, because at least something big happens at the end of his movies. Althought I sorta guessed the end of The Village half way through. I mean how can someone get robbed, rapped in the streets and die in a alleyway in the 1800's(or whatever year it was suppose to be). That sorta tipped it off for me. I mean there are no streets around, they had like cobble roads or something and no money anywhere. Plus William Hurt accent was all over the place. Also they were gonna run out of people to mate with eventually and everyone would be related somehow. I can talk all day about The Village but let's get back to Dark Waters.

Dark Waters is this film about a recently divorced mother named Yoshimi (mother abandonment issues/possibly crazy) and her little girl named Ikuko. Yoshimi has to get back on track find a place to live and a job and battle her ex for her kid. Yoshimi has little cash flow so she picks a dump to live in and gets a job which leaves Ikuko in daycare. Yoshimi starts to notice a little weirdo raincoat girl living alone and a hello kitty type bag. This bag, dripping ceiling, the ex husband, lawyers and little girl starts to drive Yoshimi crazy. It reminds her off her neglectful mother and some other stuff (the flashbacks in this flick were driving me crazy). To make a long story short. Yoshimi finds out the truth about raincoat girl and (forget it), I guess you have to see it for yourself. The movie was alright, I doubt I'll ever see it again.

What is it with Japanesse horror films and working mothers/abandon little unwanted girls/and lots of water (The Ring 1&2 & Dark Waters). The whole gulity mother not around for the child because of work stuff is sorta cruel in some ways. If the mother didn't work everyone would starve and be homeless. I would love to see a horror film about the stay at home mom, who is always around. I was scarred a little bit by only two scene in this whole entire movie. The scene with Ikuko being found by the mysterious girl in the yellow raincoat at school and the elevator/hallway scene near the end. The whole Ikuko ten years later or whatever scene at the end wasn't really needed. It just further showed the whole trapped motherly guilt (unwanted little girl) scenario thing. The mother and daughter names (Yoshimi & Ikuko) in the film were really pretty. As the credits rolled it would have been cool if they played Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Aprat" I really want to see the Jennifer Connely version and see the difference between the two films.

I was blown away by My Summer Of Love. It the story of two teen girls named Tasmin and Mona. Tasmin is a rich lonely girl with lots of time to kill. Mona is not so rich and lives with her ex-con brother who is now born again. Mona and Tasmin start a friendship which turns into an intense and obsessive love. Mona is introduced to tenderness and passion Tasmin is just well... I don't want to spoil anything. It's a really wonderful film. I was suprised by the way it ended. The Mona grews from the summer romance and hopefully will move on. The relationship between Tasmin and Mona (Nathalie Press and Emily Blunt) was really deep and dealt alot with class and trust. It's really cool to see a lesbian relationship end in a sorta normal paniful way. This love affair doesn't end with bloodshed. Paddy Considine was also great as Mona's older reborn again christian brother. I really loved him in In America.

Before the year is out I also plan on seeing theses film. The Eye 2, A Ma Soeur (Fat Girl) & Janghwa, Hongryeon (A Tale of Two Sisters) before the year is out. I've been wanting to see these three films for a long time.

It snowed yesterday and it was really beautiful. Alot of the local schools were off yesterday. But we weren't.

I saw Harry Potter this weekend. What an amazing movie. I also rented The Island and Saw 2 this weekend. The Island first part was the best thing about the whole movie. Scarlett and Ewan were amazing as always. It really warmed my heart to see Sreve Buscemi. I love Steve Buscemi very much. The Saw 2 was okay. It really does give you a lesson in patience.

Today was the most eventful day of my whole university experience. I had to got see my (SSL)Student Success Leader, she wanted to talk to me about my lack of interest in any school activities. She suggested I join various groups around campus. Because all I did was go to class and had a small selection of friends. She encouraged me to reach out so I could enjoy my learning experience more in Hollins.
I felt like I was in some sort of "You are a freak loner who needs friends and a boyfriend" intervention. I seriously can't wait until December 16th. I won't have to return until January 15th. I really want to see my family and my friends. I like it here and the experirnce, but I am very homesick and not happy in this place.

Happy Thanksgiving

I celebrated Thanksgiving here in Virginia. I spent the holiday with Ligoleni and her family (she braids my hair). Ligoleni and her family are from Malawi, the same place in Africa where my parents are from. Ligoleni graduated from Randolph-Macon College last year. In between braiding hair she also works as a temp sometimes. Thanksgiving was okay, we ate alot, had fun and talked day and night. I actually had a good time. She gave me some of the picture from thursday today.

I'm Feeling Good

We'll I finally got to celebrate my 18th birthday properly this Saturday. First thing I did was get my hair braided again and got my first manicure and pedicure. Which felt sorta weird but I liked it at the same time as well. I bought a new pink dress and a silver African necklace. Natalia and I went out to a really nice soul food resturant and had some good food.

Also I'm working on two papers right now on Assata Shakur & Alice Walker. I got alot of positive comments on my Howard Zinn paper. I started reading his books back in Junior High School. I just love his quote "You Can't Be Neutral on a Moving Train.". I am going to rent his documentary this weekend, my professor recommended that I see it.

So this is what 18 looks like, Happy Birthday to me

Today I'm offically 18. I got some really cool presents yesterday from my small group of friends at this place. The Milwaukee, Minnesota DVD (It was mentioned to me that I should get a real boyfriend and stop obsessing about Troy so much), a weird doll within a doll(which actually makes no sense because I don't have any dolls), the Missy Eliiot gym shoes, a blue jean purse and some cards . I actually got an early birthday present friday, when I got a dollar raise on my job. My mother sent me this really cool comforter for my bed. My dad and sister sent me some money. My dad wants me to quit my job and focus more on University. Especially after what happened to Taylor Behl. She was my age(17 and also a college freshman) and it happened to her here in Virginia. I told him basically without saying that (I hate it here and was unhappy) that my job was actually very good for me. If I didn't have it I would be lost. I love the responbility I'm given and the fact that I'm really trusted there.

My Domino Experience

Over the weekend I saw the movie Domino before I had to go my job. I really don't know how to review this film properly. Except to say that it left me with the desire to get up at certain points and to then stick around just to see how it would ends. This film was all over the place. I originally went to see it because of the trailer, Mickey Rourke(I love Barfly, Johnny Handsome, Angel Heart and his whole section in Sin City was trully amazing), Christopher Walken (The Man is a Genius), Tony Scott(True Romance) and because I thought it would be a really cool film. I'm not really a Keira Knightley fan, but she was okay I guess. Mo'Nique was actually good in the film. The whole Jerry Springer(28 year old grandmother, Black-Tino, Chi-Negro) thing made me laugh really hard. Macy Gray and Shondrella Avery(LaFawnduh) as Lashindra & Lashandra Davis made absolutely no sense at all (until the end). Ed Mosbey & Choco(Mickey Rourke & Edgar Ramirez) the bounty hunters were actually good. Tony Scott could of made a movie just out of the two of them. I,ve never seen Edgar Ramirez(Choco) in a film before. He really kept my eyes glued on the screen. Christopher Walken was just as wonderful as he always is. Brian Austin Green & Ian Ziering (crappy actor from crappy 90210) were sorta playing themselves/celebrity hostages. They served absoulty no purpose at all(but to annoy and be hostages). But, their reaction after someone's arm get shot off was priceless.

The whole Tom Waits montage was really when I just couldn't sit still. He was a bible sellsman/wandering soothsayer/trailer victims savior who came out of the middle of nowwhere and talked about saving (Mo'Nique's) grandaughter and then drove them to Las Vegas and just went away. I literally almost peed on myself when this section of the movie was going on. It's a good thing I caught the matinee and not alot of people were around.

But in the end I actually liked this movie and can't wait to see it again. All of the gun shooting, crazy ass dialogue, explosions and various other ridiculous stuff was really fun. I enjoyed the whole thing. When it comes out on DVD I actually might buy this film. It the only movie this year that I actually was waitng in the theater to see what was going to happen next. It by far was the most intersting film I've seen all year at the movies. I know that nothing in this movie is true except Domino's name and that she was a bounty Hunter.

I got my sister's email this morning. Kizzy sent me a picture of herself and Wesley Jonathan (He's in Roll Bounce) which I or she has never seen. The picture which is from last week makes her look like a teenager. Kizzy's is now working at a catering company in Atlanta. Last week they feed a film crew.

I am addicted to Ben and Jerry's Dublin Mudslide. I eat this stuff at once a week. It has this really wonderful taste to it and I just love it very much It is sorta replacing Cherry Garcia in my heart.

Robin Thicke has come back into my life. I put his album on my Ipod last night. It's all I'm listening too at the moment. I can't wait until his new CD comes out. The "I Wanna Love You Girl" was a great song. It could of went better without Pharrell's rap stuff. It's look like his hair is shorter again. I liked it better longer.

Just Another Day

I've been here almost two months. I have like 3 close friends here and I'm lonely as hell. I just don't relate to anyone here. All of my close friends down south are pretty much going through the same thing. It really sucks being the girl from the state that drowned. Which kinda of pisses me off. Cause alot of Louisiana didn't even get destroyed. It also sucks not having anyone to relate to as well. Friday is family day, everybody parents get to come and visit each class and talk to the teachers. I will be the only one who doesn't have any family here. Which will suck big time trust me. It also sucks that the I will have to spent Thanksgiving here alone. I'm going back to Louisiana for Christmas and New Year.

In other news. I got my hair braided on Monday. The girl(Ligoleni) who did my hair is from the same part of Africa(Malawi) my parents are from. So she did it for half price. Ligoleni is 21 and was really nice and invited me to hang out with her.

I'm now reading two new books.
Cruddy by Lynda Barry & The Rights of Racial Minorities (It's a ACLU Handbook). I'm reading it as apart of my Poly Sci class. I am obsessed with Cruddy I love the Illustrations.

Tonight at 7pm Octavia Johnson(candidate for Roanoke City Sheriff) will be discussing empowerment of woman. I will be there to hear her speak. Tomorrow at 8pm I'm going to miss the apperance of Ellen Goodman. She won a Pulitzer in 1980. Ellen will be talking about (Whatever Happened to the Women's Movement). I have to work tomorrow. Which means I get Sunday off.

Their is this cool website about sunshine. It has this cool section on Troy. It also has a picture. It talks about how smart Troy is and how the whole Sunshine crew is impressed with him. His character in the movie name is Harvey. The site says when Simone isn't on the set he carries her picture around on his laptop. That so sweet.

I got a really wonderful picture of my little brother Adam today in the mail. He wrote me a letter about his new school and his friends. I miss him so much. I won't get to go back to Louisiana until Thanksgiving or Christmas. I get two weeks for Christmas and just one wek for Thanksgiving. I divided my holidays with my parents. But, I wonder how it will be now. They are hours away from each other now. I guess I'll find out when it happens.

I got some really great news about Troy Garity, from this really cool person named Gia. She is a very talented woman in England. Gia has told me that she met Troy and he hasn't approved any photos of himself. But she will soon get some stuff from him before the film is done.She also mentioned meeting Benedict Wong, he was so good in Dirty Pretty Things. I'm so happy about this news.

I'm still unhappy in Virginia. It's still hard for me to adjust and I really don't have anything in common with anyone here. I mostly have Hi and Bye friends. I see them around I say Hi or Goodbye. I actually look forward to going to work because I have more fun around the customers than I do on this campus.

My classes are going really well and my birthday is coming up soon. So It's not all that bad. My sister has moved to Atlanta to stay with some of her college friends. She is planning on living there for good. My mother is getting a new house renovated with the insurance money and staying in Natchez. Mom said that the roof caved and smashed the house down into the ground. My father house and the whole his block actually wasn't all that destroyed. It flooded over 8 feet, but the houses are still standing. He says the smell is unbearable. He's not moving back and planning on finding somewhere else to stay but for now Shreveport is his home.

I saw the History Of Violence this weekend. Viggo's character was positively mindboggling it had me really questioning if he was Joey Cusack or not. The end result was a very skillful piece of cinema. Last weekend I saw Flightplan with Jody Foster which was also an amazing film as well.

Early this morning during breakfast. A girl named Carolyn came up to me and said she came across my blog last night. Carolyn introduced herself to me and told me she felt the same way I did. Carolyn is an only child from Terrebonne, Oregon. I thought it was really nice of her. Carolyn is really into Film and Photography. Now I have three new friends, Carolyn, Natalia and my roomate Yolanda. We took the picture in her dorm room.

Bored To Death and More Milwaukee

I am honestly so bored out of my mind right now. I miss my family and friends. I am so lonely in Virginia. It's like I'm slowly dying inside. I'm actually entertaining myself by taking pictures of my room and my computer. I also am researching and typing my paper on Shirley Chisholm. I have Thursday and Friday off from work. So after classes end I have to great pleasure to come back to my room and be bored even more. Everybody at this school is like so different from me. It's like I'm in another world. I know the whole purpose of college is going out and discoveing new people. But, I am just not happy here.

I saw Milwaukee, Minnesota like about five more times. It's sorta starting to grow on me the more I see it. Troy is so cute in this film, you just want to hug and kiss him so much. He's like a little puppy dog all through the film. He didn't play it over the top which is what makes him such a good actor. I really liked the way it ended. Albert wasn't as out of it as everyone thought. So he kept his money in the end and got to make it on his own. My rental is for seven days, but I may return it tomorrow.

I am a huge Allison Folland fan (was shocked by her weight loss).The last Allison film I saw was "Things Behind The Sun" a couple of years ago. I was secretly praying that Randy Quaid would have on white patent leather shoes but it was a no go. Debra Monk is also a wonderful actress who only get supporting role, but she always shines in them.

Milwaukee, Minnesota and Off The Chain Interview

I just saw Milwaukee, Minnesota like fifteen minutes ago. It was okay, I thought Troy was trully amazing like he always is. Troy is just the greatest actor alive. Troy could read the telephone book standing upside down drunk and I would think the man was a genius. He does no wrong in my opinion. I however will not buy this film until much later in the future. I love Troy but, not that much. I got tons of screencaps and will plan on doing something with them. I did find it troubling how in the commentary the director Alan Mindel never shutup and cut off Troy constantly like every other second.

I actually saw Simone's Bent short film Escape from Eden in the Black Independent film section next to Milwaukee, Minnesota. I was tempted to get it but I didn't. It looked really really bad. Trust me I like bad movies but not enough to pay for it. Maybe I'll rent it some other time. I found the picture of her on the director's site.

Target and Women's Studies

I also stopped by Target today during my break and went to the dollar bin. They had Boucle Yarn and needles. I bought some and I will make a scarf out of what I bought. I have in the weeks since I've been in Roanoke I've been knitting and hand sewing like crazy. I am not sleeping really good. I really feel crappy about not bringing my sewing machine, so when I get enough cash. I'm thinking about buying another one. I saw a really good one at Target.

I have a paper due friday for my Feminism and Race class (Shirley Chisholm is my subject) and my Feminist Philosophies class ( I am really focused on Sojourner Truth for this paper). I just saw this film about Shirley Chisholm and her bid for the Predidency and what she went through. It's really sad how alot of feminist at the time didn't I believe fully support her. Sojourner Truth has always been a favorite of mine. Also my Creative Writing paper isn't due until next wednesday.

I am now reading two new books. Just to keep my mind from going crazy.

I got a part time job at Lady Foot Locker from 5pm to 10pm. Not at Target like I wanted. Natalia got a job at JCPenney. So it least I got the job situation out of the way. Finally the day I will see Milwaukee, Minnesota has come. I will rent it on Tuesday from Blockbusters after work. Thank god Blockbusters doesn't close until midnight.

First day

I started classes today. I really have my schedule down pact. Everybody here is really becoming my new family. My roomates name is Yolanda, she's from Ohio (It's suppose to get a visit from Katrina also). I thought I would be the only youngest person here. Natalia who is two doors down from me is 16. We both graduated early and are pratically taking some of the same classes. Natalia wants to become a Veterinarian. I still have no clue what I want to do or be. I also have three older women in their 40's and 50's attending two of my classes. Which I think is so cool. It's never to late for an education. Natalia and I, applied for several Part Time jobs at the Valley View Mall (which isn't that far). I hope I get the one at Target. My parents said not to worry about money and stuff. They both say that everything is okay. But, I wouldn't feel comfortable asking them for anything at this point. I had a free ride all summer (screwing around on the internet and buying crap) and they've given me so much already. I not going to burden them at all. My grades are going to be the main focus. My father said he's pretty sure his house which is in Kenner and his business in Metairie are very under water and destroyed and he's happy that they made it out in time. They are staying at my uncle's house. Daddy's going to enroll Adam at a local school in Shreveport. My mother and sister, said that some of the residents in Natchez are giving them alot of clothes and extra stuff. It's hard to handle the fact that if I didn't have Hollins I would be homeless right now. Basically, everything I bought with me to Virginia is pretty much all that I owe. That blows my mind. Roanoke is my home now.

Katrina and Classes

Well alot has happened in a span of a couple of days. I left for Virginia on the 20th. I start classes on the 31th and I am settled in okay. But, all I can think about is New Orleans. All I ever thought about was leaving that place and never coming back. But, now I really want to be home and with my family right now. I talked to my Mother and sister and they went to Natchez, Mississippi. My father and his wife my little brother Adam, went to Shrevport. New Orleans is so flooded and everything is so messed-up. At least their are no deaths and people are leaving and safe. That's all I can hope for. For now, I speak to my family often and I am glued to the C.N.N.

I have decided to leave the Fan Club forum or whatever for Troy. It is really frustrating being there. Everytime I post something. Their is no response or a unwanted response from a complete and total asshole. Fansite should be about people expressing their love or appreciation for an artist. Not attacking someone (ME). Who basically give them alot of pictures and articles. So I'm done with that site. These little kids express exactlly how I truly feel inside. Good Riddance

Orientation is in a week. I have everything I need for Virginia. I am still shopping for new clothes and shoes. It's my weekness. I leave for Virginia on the 23rd. The next time I come home it will be for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I really want to start my own Troy Garity Fan Site. Because, I don't really like the one I'm on now. No one communicates or shares anything. It's so dead there. I just need to start my own and get some information on building websites.

Six Feet Under was amazing Sunday night. Claire is drunk, David is messed up, Brenda's delivering early, Keith is becoming a wonderful father to the boys, Ruth wants Maya and Rico is stepping up and starting his own business with Vanessa's help. Rico and Vanessa are much better together. Just one more episode and it's all over.

I saw Skeleton Key Yesterday. It was a really good movie. Kinda sorta hooror movie meets mystery movie in a way. At first I thought it would be like Candyman, but it really suprised me at the end. I wasn't expecting that.

I was first drwan to him back in 1992, when he played Jackie Jackson in that Jackson TV Movie. He was so good looking. Since then he has had bit parts in movies. Mostly out shining his co-stars. Now with Hustle and Flow he will be a household name. It is so long overdue.

I am so happy to be home. Last Night they showed Bandits on ABC. I was so happy to see Troy's face.
We stayed at the Wyndham Roanoke Airport. Which was a great room by the way. When we got there they gave us passport that were to be stampted evertime we visites a new section of the University. We went on tours and got to see all the clases and meet the Professors. I even met my big sister named Sarah. Sarah from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. she's class of 2007 and she's really nice, she showed me around and told me how things would be. The dorm rooms look actually quite nice. I won't get to know which room is mine or my roomates until after orentation later this month. Their is free high speed internet and my mom said she would get me a laptop so I will be truly happy. They also have a really cool library called The Wyndham Robertson Library.

On Friday the 5th. We went to go see Earth, Wind and Fire at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre-Virginia Beach. It was an amazing concert. Everybody was really pumped and excited . We also went to the Alexandria Black History Museum on the 3rd. A lot of people left the Museum crying it was really emotional place.

It was reported today from scriptgirl(o)(a member of Transending Troy). That Troy will be making a new movie. Sunshine with Danny Boyle. Amazing director and hw will also be joing Jane Fonda on her cross-country anti-war drive in the U.S. So Troy was in Las Vegas promoting his documenry he produced called Off the Chain. I can't wait to see that when it comes out as well.

I am still packing and getting ready for Virginia. We will leave on Sunday the 31.

We are leaving for Virginia soon. We will be in Virginia from August 1-6. It's apart of their college week. They will have tours and other stuff. Orientation is on August 25.
I still am in the process of buying clothes and various junk. I got to get all I can out of my family now (Just kidding), because when school start I'm on my own. I have to look around for some job openings when we get to Virginia. I don't want to have to ask my parents for cash. I want to make it on my own.
